Understand how your organisation supports Communities of Practice, from early awareness through to self-sustaining, industry-shaping practice, with this five-step model.

About the model
The Tacit Organisational Conditions for Communities of Practice Maturity Model helps leaders and practitioners assess where their organisation currently sits across five levels and six dimensions: Structure, Culture, Collaboration, Support, Technology, and Impact.
Rather than focusing on a single community in isolation, this model examines the organisational conditions that enable communities of practice to thrive or that hold them back.
The content is based on research and hands-on consultancy experience across a wide range of organisations, from UK government departments to global corporations and charities.
How it relates to the Community of Practice Maturity Model
This model works alongside The Tacit Community of Practice Maturity Model, which focuses on an individual community, from potential, through forming and maturing, to self-sustaining.
Where that model helps you understand the health and progression of a single community, this organisational model zooms out to ask: does your organisation have the right conditions in place to support communities of practice at scale? Used together, the two models give a complete picture.
